Award-winning North East marketing agency doubles in size

The new hires, which take the award-winning agency to four people, supports the business’ expansion plans into the North West and Scotland.

Working almost exclusively in the arts, culture and creative sectors, Crystallised (founded in 2013) were recognised in October by Nigel Wright’s North East Marketing Awards 2019, in which they were named small agency of the year.

Joining the team are Lucy Stockdale, previously interning at Newcastle’s BID company, NE1 and Jennifer O’Neill previously interning at marketing agency, Different.

The company’s latest recruits have been supported by the University of Sunderland and the European Regional Development Fund’s Graduate Intern Scheme, which supports North East based SME’s to hire fresh local talent for the first year of employment.

Lucy and Jennifer join Crystallised’s team, which consists of founder and managing director Laura Rothwell, as well as account manager Lauren Watson, who was recently named Rising Star at the North East Business Woman of the Year Awards.

Founder and Managing Director of Crystallised, Laura Rothwell, said: “We were so pleased to work with the University of Sunderland to find and hire local talent, helping to keep talented graduates in our region. We are very grateful for the support and funding that we received from the European Regional Development Fund.”

Lucy and Jennifer join Crystallised two months after the company implemented a 4-day working week, an approach which asserts Crystallised’s ‘people first’ ethos. A Real Living Wage employer, Crystallised also offer flexible working, a ring-fenced £500 training and development budget per person per year, and £250 per person per year welfare allowance for employees to use on “anything that improves or enhances health and wellbeing” – team members have used the budget for talking therapy, gym memberships and even a holiday!

Jennifer said of her hire, “It’s an honour to work for an agency which not only recognises how vital marketing is to the survival of creative and cultural sectors but shouts loudly that they should be accessible to all. I’m thrilled to be able to help support Crystallised on their mission to create change and have a positive impact on all who access arts and culture.”

Lucy added, “I’m thoroughly excited to bring together two of my greatest passions - marketing and culture - in my role at Crystallised. I believe it is so important to work for a company whose work and values you are truly invested in, so I can’t wait to start working with clients to promote, expand and open up the cultural sector to all.”
